The Sizzlin’ Summer
Technicians take on the hottest and busiest summer in CMS History.

If you asked a technician how their job at CMS is going this summer, they would most likely have one word for you. That word would be “busy”. This summer, our technicians have been hard at work servicing a record number of sites around the country. In addition, record-high hot temperatures in the southwest and southeast divisions have added in-creased strain on HVAC systems leading to more equipment breakdowns and repairs that our technicians need to fix.
While our technicians regularly have a busy workload, that workload is greatly increased with the demand of the summer season. Our team has put in long hours over the last two months to ensure our customers are well taken care of. In return, we want to ensure our technicians are taken care of. Our technician’s safety comes first and we want to ensure that our technicians stay safe while working this summer. Here are some tips we recommend for our technicians.
Tips For Technicians
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day and stay hydrated, especially when on rooftops. We recommend 96 to 104 oz per day for our technicians.
- Wear sunblock/sunscreen and wear items such as sunglasses, hats, and UV protectant sleeves to protect your skin from the sun.
- Avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke! If you begin to feel dizzy, tired, nauseated, or ill when working outdoors, take a break to cool down and drink some water.
- Give yourself a pat on the back! Being a technician is not an easy job, especially in the summer. Take time to reward yourself and reflect on the accomplishments you have achieved.
